The new TIR Optics Range. TIR stands for ?Total Internal Reflection? and is the latest in optical design for use with injection-molded plastic polymers that are shaped into a refractive lens inside a reflector. This in turn encompasses the onboard LEDs, harnessing the light at the source and focusing each LED to exactly where it is intended with minimal glare or stray light. Research and development into this project discovered some interesting facts. Two lamps, one a TIR lens design and the other a reflector based style both with matching specifications that include Lumen and lux outputs showed the TIR to have a centre illumination in lux twice that of the reflector and only 6% light contributing to glare as opposed to 28% with the reflector technology.
